The 2004 Arabian Bazaar

Mosaic Foundation hosted its 8th Annual Arabian Bazaar at the Four Seasons Hotel Ballroom in Georgetown on November 28, 2004.

The event was a great success with a wide turnout from various communities from the Washington, DC area.

The Four Seasons Hotel Ballroom was transformed into a modern day souk with music and the sounds of people bustling through the crowds, ladies choosing from the extensive selection of decorative items, men wandering and sipping coffee, children laughing as they lined up to have henna designs placed on their hands.

In line with Mosaic’s 2004-2005 cultural programming theme of West Looks East: The Influences of Traditional Arab Design on Contemporary Western Designers, the Bazaar showcased a host of wonderful Arabian design items from the ranging from ornate glassware and pottery, hand woven carpets, traditional and antique silver jewelry, hand embroidered linens and clothing, Yemeni coffee, Moroccan Argan oil, and traditional Arabian sweets.

A portion of the event’s proceeds will benefit local Washington, DC charity, Martha’s Table, aiding homeless children and low income families and individuals through food assistance, clothing and educational programs.

Mosaic would like to thank the vendors who supported our silent auction program.

We would also like to extend a special thank you to the Four Seasons Hotel for once again making us feel at home in their Ballroom.
