Artistic Presentation American Debut of the Cairo Opera Ballet
Egyptian Pharaohs pioneered the story ballet by adding dance to existing narrative traditions, thereby creating a new dramatic form. Inscriptions from the Fifth Dynasty show women dancing in groups, similar to what we see in modern ballet. The Cairo Opera Ballet Company preserves and cultivates this art, one rich in tradition and history.
Founded in 1966, the Cairo Opera Ballet Company has evolved into a well-known corps de ballet with professional dancers gifted in expressing the diversity and richness of Egyptian traditions and nationality. Director Abdel-Moneim Kamel is the creative force through which these themes have materialized. He is credited with developing a company with the expansiveness and precision to present the most challenging masterpieces.
The stylish Cairo Opera Ballet, dancing the exotically beautiful Osiris, Le Corsaire and Egyptian Night, is an energetic presence on any international stage. The Company and its distinguished lead dancers transcend time and reality, enticing patrons on a magical journey. Presenting unique cultures and experiences through delicate movements and inspired choreography, the Cairo Opera Ballet provides the ultimate in an enlightened and enriched balletic experience.
