Mosaic Foundation 11th Annual Benefit Dinner Tuesday, May 6, 2008
In line with its “Year of the Woman.” Mosaic's 2008 Annual Benefit Dinner, Inspiring Women, Expanding Horizons, celebrated the entrepreneurial spirit of the Arab woman.
Today’s young Arab women are facing challenges and adventures with impressive resilience and fortitude. These women are contributing to their countries in finance, diplomacy, education, philanthropy and countless other fields as never before.
This year Mosaic also honored our partnership with our 2008 Major Beneficiary Grant recipient, AMIDEAST. Implemented and managed by AMIDEAST, the Mosaic pilot project will raise awareness about entrepreneurship among disadvantaged high school women from the region.
Lively entertainment by three time Grammy Award winning band Ozomatli served to showcase the influence that the Arab World is having on Western music. The evening's events also highlighted the incredible examples that Arab woman are setting today, for the generations of tomorrow, with a tribute to Mosaic's Committee of Inspiring Leaders. The evening concluded with rousing traditional music by Shawkat Sayyad, playing on the Oud.
