The Life and Work of Naguib Mahfouz

Naguib Mahfouz is the most highly regarded literary figure in the Arab world. This lecture and film presentation will commemorate a legendary man who published 34 novels, 350 short stories, dozens of movie scripts and five plays over a 70 year career.

Dr. Roger Michael Ashley Allen, our guest speaker, currently serves as Professor of Arabic and Comparative Literature in the Department of Near Eastern Languages and Civilizations at the University of Pennsylvania. He is also Director of the Huntsman Program in International Studies and Business, a joint-degree program (The College & the Wharton School) for undergraduates.

Ronnie Hammad, our moderator, is a Senior Operations Officer in the Africa Region with over 12 years experience at the
World Bank.
